The power of the Cordyceps fungi!
I don't think that you would believe in me but the Cordyceps is one of our most infective series of fungi.
A Bullet ant sometimes show very worrying symptoms, a paracitic fungus known as Cordyceps infects and controls the body and its mind, he is then diverted up a branch and then, tired and exhausted it clings on for its life, the reason why it did this was because the type of Cordyceps it ate took over his organs and his central nervous system (that is used as a brain since ants don't have one) which diverted him up the branch and then he died. But like something out of a science fiction film it erupts from the ants head. And any red ant nearby is in serious risk of death. This killer can wipe out whole colonies of ants.
But this species is not the only one, there are thought to be thousands of different types of Cordyceps and each one only targets one species. But this is certain, without fungi rainforests could not exist. There is something good about this, at least the cordyceps stops one species getting hold of the other.
